One of my favorite places: a well-crafted stone wall found out in the middle of a local forest. Two hundred years ago, this wall probably marked a cleared field producing agricultural products or supported a dairy herd. It is now a hidden treasure and monument to our past.
My brother and I try to identify every bird we see but, when we admit defeat, we apply a generic ID, such as “LBT” for this one. I could only come up with a variety of siskin.
