This gull was spotted over a central Maine pond last week; probably a herring gull but has dark eyes and a black beak marker. Does not match anything in my guide books.

You would think with all these subjects, at least one would be in focus.

As we approached the great marsh, we heard the rushed, “Cheep-cheep-cheep…,” of an excited osprey. We saw it fly away to the other side of the marsh. Then, many minutes later, we caught this one checking us out.

My brother has two feeders and birds were visiting all weekend long. The feeders are also popular with bumble bees.


Walking along the far bog awhile ago I found a different visitor than I am used to seeing. With some research, I now know I have my first image of a cedar waxwing.
