Wet snow sticks to everything
This weekend’s storm is a typical late season snow event. Mild temperatures and high humidity combine to give us heavy, wet, and sticky white stuff.

Here is an unusual sight: a pair of bufflehead ducks cruising along the Connecticut coast. This species spends their summers in western Canada but winters along the entire North American coastlines.

We get to the back woods on a small trail used as access to property awaiting human development. The animals use the trail to get to the various bogs and clear cuts scattered among the trees; the property is as developed as they need already.
Travel on a Frozen pond
Likely deer tracks on a cove of the pond.
Winter sun
During a recent mid-morning, the sun was just barely visible through the fog and low-level clouds. I almost thought it was the moon for a minute.
New year snowfall at the creek
The first major snowfall for the season is likely the last one for 2012; for the snow-lovers, there is a good base to start 2013. Happy New Year!
