As we walked the island last weekend in search of big birds, we had a lucky visit from a spotted sandpiper at the Poggy Bay boat dock.
We found egrets everywhere during last weekend’s visit to the Connecticut shoreline. Here was one investigating the Poggy Bay marsh.
During our recent visit to the osprey nest (see previous here), we passed by an egret standing along the marsh shore. Then it flew away past us.
After multiple dives, the loon that visited our portion of the shoreline gave us this sideways glance as it departed to the center of the lake during our recent New Hampshire trip.

On our annual visit to the nest on Schoolhouse road, we found a mother osprey keeping two chicks down low, out of sight. Come on, Mom! You could make them famous!
