Power to the Doves
Once the creature notices your presence, the action part of the story begins. Thank goodness for auto-focus. This bird simply flew across the Ice Pond to the other side, just far enough to command a presence and diminish photographic quality.
During our lucky weekend in Connecticut, we caught this heron on the shore of the north edge of the Ice pond. Is it the same one we posted yesterday, or not?
On a walk by the Ice Pond this weekend, we finally lucked out with one of the local herons.
Earlier this year on a visit to the Connecticut shore, we were able to approach this pole sitter and get the shot.
Another view of an egret along Potter’s Brook in Litchfield, Maine, this summer.
Getting back into the archives, we had a nice walk this summer along the Connecticut coast. Here at a beach on Enders Island, a gull was spotted playing with a crab. I had to wait several minutes for the bird to turn around and give us a clear view of its catch.
Another look at the amazing tree on the trail through Mount Pisgah rural conservation area in Maine.
Our visit last week to the Mount Pisgah Conservation land treated us to this unique, perhaps sinister, inhabitant. Our walk through this easement of the Kennebec Land Trust property (Winthrop and Wayne, Maine) occurred on a pleasant Fall day, with sun and warmth.
During a hike near Pleasant pond in Litchfield (Maine), we encountered a not-so-typical sight: an egret hung around the Potter’s brook outlet into the pond. We do not see egrets very often here, a nice surprise.
