Great egret stalks the shore

As we approached the great marsh, we heard the rushed, “Cheep-cheep-cheep…,” of an excited osprey. We saw it fly away to the other side of the marsh. Then, many minutes later, we caught this one checking us out.

My brother has two feeders and birds were visiting all weekend long. The feeders are also popular with bumble bees.

Walking along the far bog awhile ago I found a different visitor than I am used to seeing. With some research, I now know I have my first image of a cedar waxwing.

Another look at my bog walk escort last weekend.
