Tree art from Potter’s Brook
A loon floats along Potter’s brook near Pleasant Pond in Litchfield, Maine
While walking along the Pleasant pond in Maine last month, I spotted a couple of guys fishing in a small boat near me. I greeted them and asked if they had seen any ospreys or eagles recently. They said, “No.”
About twenty minutes later as I continued on my walk, I spotted an eagle cruising along the center of the pond. It then turned toward me and the fishermen, cruised directly over them (and they were oblivious of its presence) and settled in a tree directly above me.
I caught this wood duck on the beaver pond in the back woods earlier this year. I get excited whenever I manage to get close to one – they are not common or likely to stay near when you do get close.
One of the herons visiting the shore along the Kennebec river while I walked along the Mill Park trail several months ago.
From earlier this year along the Kennebec river in Augusta, Maine. The herons were investigating the shore line during a fast moving current
The heron I was able to photo last week as it landed on one of its favorite rocks.
The heron I spotted last Friday was on the pond again on Sunday. While I paused for a few minutes, the bird went to the air, shown here.
