Black ducks in the marsh
A small gang of black ducks (most likely) were quietly encamped in the middle of the (so-called) great or grand marsh on a Sunday in December.
Shaking like a hawk
At a turn in the road, we spotted this hawk hanging about. It was overcast and this limited my modest abilities at identification, but I knew it was a hawk! Looks like a red-shouldered hawk that has seen better days.

After some slow motion creeping along the shore, we got a reasonable image of a great egret at mid-day along the Mystic river last September.

A somewhat ragged looking cormorant attempts to dry its wings during late summer on the coast of Connecticut.

Strong colors was the rule this year around the bog. Despite several days of strong winds, leaves of color persisted on the branches for many days.
