Canada geese over Connecticut
A small gang of black ducks (most likely) were quietly encamped in the middle of the (so-called) great or grand marsh on a Sunday in December.
At a turn in the road, we spotted this hawk hanging about. It was overcast and this limited my modest abilities at identification, but I knew it was a hawk! Looks like a red-shouldered hawk that has seen better days.

Strong colors was the rule this year around the bog. Despite several days of strong winds, leaves of color persisted on the branches for many days.
