Getting back into the archives, we had a nice walk this summer along the Connecticut coast. Here at a beach on Enders Island, a gull was spotted playing with a crab. I had to wait several minutes for the bird to turn around and give us a clear view of its catch.
At another corner of the Island, along School House road, the herons can sometimes be found searching for a snack.
During this recent summer visit to the Fishers Island sound area, there were egrets almost everywhere one goes. Are they close enough for a great image or are they poking around beautiful natural settings? Near Allyn’s Alley, this one may have been looking for food, I guess.
During our last visit to southeast Connecticut this summer, there was plenty of other bird sightings to evaluate and ponder. Here, at the Poggy Bay marsh, the almost regular visit of an egret or heron was caught.

The usual group of geese and ducks on the Ice Pond last week. This end of the pond was not filled with algae at this time (see previous posts).
A pair of ducks sample the underwater goodies on the Ice Pond. The algae is becoming visible.
We found the Ice Pond on Mason Island covered with a vast cover of algae last week. The ducks and geese seem to mostly ignore its presence.
A canada goose paddled toward me as I hung around the Ice pond. Then stood up on this rock for a close up.
