Another look at the amazing tree on the trail through Mount Pisgah rural conservation area in Maine.
Our visit last week to the Mount Pisgah Conservation land treated us to this unique, perhaps sinister, inhabitant. Our walk through this easement of the Kennebec Land Trust property (Winthrop and Wayne, Maine) occurred on a pleasant Fall day, with sun and warmth.
During a hike near Pleasant pond in Litchfield (Maine), we encountered a not-so-typical sight: an egret hung around the Potter’s brook outlet into the pond. We do not see egrets very often here, a nice surprise.
After wandering near Pleasant pond in Litchfield, Maine, over many days, I finally found a bird close enough to ‘capture’!

A loon floats along Potter’s brook near Pleasant Pond in Litchfield, Maine
While walking along the Pleasant pond in Maine last month, I spotted a couple of guys fishing in a small boat near me. I greeted them and asked if they had seen any ospreys or eagles recently. They said, “No.”
About twenty minutes later as I continued on my walk, I spotted an eagle cruising along the center of the pond. It then turned toward me and the fishermen, cruised directly over them (and they were oblivious of its presence) and settled in a tree directly above me.
