NH loon

After multiple dives, the loon that visited our portion of the shoreline gave us this sideways glance as it departed to the center of the lake during our recent New Hampshire trip.

Mom says go away

On our annual visit to the nest on Schoolhouse road, we found a mother osprey keeping two chicks down low, out of sight. Come on, Mom! You could make them famous!

End of day heron visit

During a late evening while lounging at a New Hampshire lakeshore cottage, a heron suddenly arrived and perched on a tree top in front of us. Grabbed my phone and captured the bird through porch screening and dwindling light. The bird stayed, swaying on the light branches for a few minutes and departed.

The beaver dam, another view

The latest beaver dam has now re-created the pond that existed about twenty-five years ago when the beavers first flooded the area now known as the beaver bog. You can see the new pond at the top of this image. The water that has leaked through the dam, seen in the lower part of the image, makes the image you see in the previous post.
