Boothbay Harbor blue heron

When returning to Boothbay harbor, just as we passed McFarland Island, I noticed the unmistakable shape of a heron among the exposed seaweed near the water’s edge.

Egret in the marsh channel

During an evening walk down to the marsh last weekend, we found a solitary great egret standing in mid-channel. Eventually he? poked at the water for minnows but flew off as I crept closer.

Red as a ruby

Last weekend the hummingbirds were feeding regularly at my brother’s feeder. I concentrated on getting a shot of one in the nearby trees and found this one at the perfect angle to show off his colorful throat.
