We had an earlier post with this same specie, identified as a ruby meadowhawk dragonfly. Again, while waiting for a hummingbird, my iPhone caught this guy on a garden border rock. We have plenty of dragon flies not afraid of the cameras.
This is about two inches or more; interesting light blue dotted tail. Chased it around the yard with my iPhone while waiting for a hummingbird to show up at my feeder
At least they were napping until I crept up behind them. Contrary to prior outcomes, they did not panic and fly immediately away.

As mentioned in an earlier post, we have encountered a pair of loons down at pondside frequently this year. The mother and her kid float around, diving periodically, and this is about as close as I can get without a super zoom lens. One day there was two adults and I presume it was the father joining this pair.
